Hermitage Museum

The State Hermitage Museum is said to be one of the largest museum in the world. It has over 3 million different kinds of art in it. It is said to have the oldest art galleries the world. The museum is situated along the Palace Embankment in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The huge collection of the State Hermitage Museum is spread in six different buildings along the Palace Embankment. The most prominent and known amongst them is the Winter Palace, which now is made the official residence of Russian Tsars.

Some of the classic collection of the State Hermitage Museum is the western art collection that includes Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Rubens, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Poussin, Claude Lorrrian, Watteau, Tiepolo etc.

The museum also has a beautiful assortment of Faberge Jewelery. Even though the main museum was established in the year 1764, it has seen constant expansions every century. In the 19th century, addition to the museum was done by relics of Greek and Scythian culture.

The museum complex also includes the Menshikov Palace and the Eastern Wing of the General Staff building, the Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Centre and the Museum of the Imperial Porcelain Factory.

Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin sometimes referred to as simply The Kremlin, is a historic fortified complex at the heart of Moscow. It has four palaces and four cathedrals. The site is the official residence of the president of Russia.

The Moscow Kremlin is the oldest central part of Moscow and is recognized as one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles in the world. It is situated on Borovitsky hill at the left bank of the Moskva River.  The Kremlin has been and remains a unique monument of Russian culture and a symbol of Russian statehood.

The Kremlin is Russia's mythic refuge, a self contained city with a multitude of palaces, armories, and churches, a medieval fortress that links the modern nation to its legendary past in the ancient state of Kievan Rus'.

The Palace was built to extend the Russian autocracy. The best architects were hired to perform the splendid job and finally they did come up with a fine piece of art. The dimensions of the palace are massive.

The whole building has almost 9 churches from the 14th, 15th and 16th century and has more than 700 rooms in it. The west side of the palace was for the Royal family. Just like many other palaces, this one is also off limits to public viewing.

Moscow Kremlin is a wonderful and extraordinary place, the unique example of Russian architecture and culture.
